Our next Creative Workshop is on Aug 10th, from 9:30 to 2:00!
In September, we will be making pillowcases for Wheeler Mission again; they were very much appreciated last year. We will be getting a ‘head start’ on them this month by getting them cut out and ready to sew (making ‘kits’, like with the tote bags). There will be a pattern available to use to ease the cutting process. The full instructions are Here. There is the Basic Pillowcase Pattern, and the Roll It Up Pattern, and both are PDF’s with pics near the top of the page.
Bring fabric for the pillowcases; 1 1/4 yards each of 2 coordinating cotton fabrics will make 2 pillowcases. Or, if you’re bringing fabric from your stash, 7/8 yard for the body, and 3/8 yard for the border. We will be demonstrating the assembly for the pillowcases on Saturday. Extra fabric may be necessary if using directional fabric. Feel free to bring enough for several pillowcases!
If anyone has a fabric ‘stash’ of cottons they would like to donate to this project, we would appreciate it very much! Please make sure to wash them first in warm water.
When we gather in September, we will be primarily assembling and sewing the pillowcases, so please bring your sewing machine. We will help bringing it in if you need it. If you don’t have a machine, there will be other parts of the process that you can help with, so do plan on coming! I think it will be a good ‘group’ project, and we will have a lot of fun, teamwork, and camaraderie!
We will be sharing our upcoming projects for the fall and winter, so there will be some new projects to work on.
Please bring in your totes, we plan to get them to Wheeler Mission later this month.
We’ll meet from 9:30 to 2:00, please bring your lunch, and bring your projects to work on, including all your necessary supplies and equipment! If you have something you especially want to work on this session, let us know, and we will help. Also if there is anything you are interested in learning, please let us know!
There are several projects you can be actively working on for the Summer & Fall; a list of them is Here.
