Who: We have been making hats & scarves for two years, and we will be donating them to several organizations. They will go to the Hazel Dell Food Pantry; a couple schools; the Boys & Girls Club; Women’s shelters; the Hazel Dell Children’s Ministry; plus wherever God leads us. How many places we can donate to depends on how many we have, so basically “the more the merrier”!
The number of hat/scarf sets for boys and girls are totaled together. We tend to get more sets for girls, so when you make the hat/scarf sets, make more gender neutral sets, or more for boys.
When: usually in the Fall, but other times as needed
Progress Bars: These Progress Bars will display how many Hats & Scarves we have made! Since we have now changed the way they will be given out – and who they will be given to – we will keep a running total. No minimum number or minimum requirements. In 2014, we had soooo many hats and scarves, it felt like we had a basket of loaves and fishes! It seemed never-ending!
So, if you see one of the categories is low, you may try to make some for that category! Or make some of each size, it’s totally up to you!

Hat & Scarf Sets
The first group is ages 6-8. Please make one hat plus one matching scarf for each boy or girl. The hats should be sized about 19″-20″ around, the scarf about 5′ long for fleece, and 4′ long for knit/crochet.

The second group is ages 9-11. Please make one hat plus one matching scarf for each boy or girl. The hats should be sized about 20″-21″ around, the scarf about 6′ long for fleece, and 5′ long for knit/crochet.

The third group is Jr/Sr High/Adults. Please make one hat plus one matching scarf. The Small hats should be sized about 21″-23″ around. The Large hats should be sized about 23″-24″ around. All scarves should be about 7′ long for fleece, and 6′ long for knit/crochet.
